The 400 is an excellent engine if you ask me.
My dad had one in his old 1 ton crew cab. It was a stock engine except for the mild cam and headers.
It had a big Dana LSD diff 3.73:1 and I was surprised when it could spin the rear wheels. This was a late 70's truck.
That engine wound TIGHT and quick like what you would expect from a small block. It was definitely WAY better running (and especially sounding) and lasted a hell of a lot longer than the Chevy 454 of the same years!
Heck, any of the 383,400,413,440 series would be great if you want big block power!

does anyone know if its possible to change the overdrive gear on a 46re from the stock .69-1 to a .50-1????? id like to get 4.56 gears on my r/t but really would like to rev low on the highway.
