I was wondering if anyone who has purchased a fastman throttle body could explain to me how the payment goes. On his website it says $250 w/$100 core. Does that mean that once you send him your old throttlebody back, he will refund 100 dollars to you? SO in the end you will wind up only paying 150 for the TB? Someone please explain. THanks

i take it to mean that if you don't send him the core then the total cost is 350. These are stock TB's that have been modified. The modification is something you can do for yourself pretty easily.

doesnt sound pretty easy to me. Could easily screw things up taking a Dremel to a piece of aluminum.

yea , i think 350 for his TB , then you get 100 when you send your old one to him.

I got one of his and its works great.

if you can put to lego peices together, then you can do your TB. It's pretty easy.

Troy:

Don't even try to mod it yourself, either do the V8 TB mod or go with the Fastman or F&B.

I have the Fastman 46 mm TB (with a lot of other mods) and it made a huge difference, nice power and instant throttle response. you wont be sorry.

$250 is a fair price for a piece that has a LOT of skilled machine work by someone with a lot more experience than most people have.

Not to sound like a jerk but your never gonna be able to machine a tb as well as someone like Dan who does it for a living. His products are well worth it. Do some serching and you'll find that most of the guys that have the fastest dak's use Dans stuff.

guys seriuosly, ask larry about this. It is a SIMPLE thing to do. Sure it takes time but to say you can't do it as good as dan is stupid. And i'm sure he does more then that for a "living".

OK , Jeremy , you post some good close up pics of your TB after you P&P it and we`ll compare it to Dans work. I`m sure you can do it , but not as good as someone who does it for a living. And yes , TBs are only a part of what he does.

Jeremy,

Look at Dans site. It's all dodge motors, including tb which are onr of the most popular items. "If" you can make tb as good as him start selling them cause there is money in it.

I guess ya'll are talking about the v6, or 5.2, 5.9 Tb's?

Cause ya know, on my 4.7, I dremeled it myself, made it a true 68mm, taking off the sides and the 'step' in the bottom. For more info, do a search on instructions for porting the 4.7 TB.

The funny thing is, that on the 4.7, just after the TB, no matter how smooth you get the lining, it dumps right into a large chamber berfore the runners start, where a huge eddy current situation exists! So no matter how 'smooth' you get the wall, (and you know, it's AIR moving, it's NOT metal to metal like a piston in a cylinder), at least on the 4.7, it don't make much difference!

In fact, there are flow tests on many fluid to solid surfaces, that adhere the laminer flow of the fluid (air) better when it has a slightly rough surface. For instance, in monohull sailboats, the laminer flow of the fluid (water here), is disrupted by most waxes you put on the surface of the hull, thereby increasing drag slightly overall on the solid.

NOw Bigtorque, (by the way, mines bigger-inside joke,) on the one cam engines, maybe it's not that easy as it is on the 4.7.

Many have done the 4.7 with a dremel, don't remember anyone having a problem. It's not rocket science, it's aerodynamics.

NO kidding, I couldn't believe where the air went after the TB on the 4.7, or 4.7HO manifolds, it's like falling of a cliff for some of the air. Which also blows the argument for those silly Tornado things, how you gonna go from a smooth barrell, to falling off a cliff, then into one of eight runners, and stay 'swirling' all the way to the cylinder, nope, sorry, ain't gonna happen!

TexasTodd, you should see the individual runner intake I have designed (complete with available N2O ports) for the 4.7L...if it works. I have only fitted it to my truck, (but haven't ran it on a dyno or just cruising around yet). It might be worth further research...

The MAD guys are headed down on Oct 25, from what I read on DakotaUSA.com:
