Message: I have a 2000 Dak Sport 4x4 with the original Goodyears. They are starting to look like drag slicks now that I've worn them down so much. Can anybody recommend a good highway alternative. Truck rarely sees off road - - mostly bad weather driving, hauling home improvement stuff and highway driving. Thanks in advance.

Message: I recommend Michelin LTX M/S. For highway driving,it's hard to beat Michelins.
Don't get the Michelin LTX A/T (poor off-road performance)
For off-road, I'd recommend BFG A/T with the tri-gaurd sidewalls.
Good Luck! It's fun shopping for Tires.
Just my 2 cents

Message: I have a 96 4x2. It started with Goodyear Invicta GL's(Terrible). I upgraded to Goodyear Wranglers(OK) when the originals went bad. I then upgraded to Goodyear Wrangler RT/S. I upgraded my Jeep 4x4 from RT/S to Goodyear Fortera's. I have been extremely happy with the Fortera's. I purchased them from the Tire Rack and they were at my house in 2 days. I drove from PA to Ohio after the install. The Fortera's are quieter, smoother ride, and better traction. A set of Michelin's would be the only other choice.

Message: I don't think he's going to want 16" tires on his 15" rims. I like the BFGoodrich AT - good grip in bad weather, ride smooth on the highway.

Message: I have the BFG Long Trail T/A. I had the All Terain on my Jeep before the Dak, and I find the Long Trail's to ride quite a bit smoother. I have been extremely pleased, but I have also heard extremely good things about the Goodyear Fortera. Hope this helps.

Message: I had 31/10.5/15s Goodyear RT/S when I bought the Dak, they were a real poor tire on or off road.Within 2-weeks, I replaced with the same size Goodyear AT/S And love em on the street and off road, in the snow and in the sand (They aren't GREAT in mud, but not bad either)They are a real quiet tire on the HWY too. Had I realised how much offroading that I was gonna be doing, I'd have gotten Goodyear MT/Rs.

Message: Once upon a time you could count on Goodyear to build a quality, long lasting truck tire. I've owned many sets of Goodyears; I would not buy another.
It isn't that they are so bad. It's that the competition - namely Michelin, Bridgestone (Revo), and BFG - build a MUCH better product.
The best general purpose truck tire on the market for years now has been the Michelin LTX M/S - PERIOD!!
Probably the best AT tire over the past several years has been the BFG A/T (personally had a set on a Bronco and loved them), but the new Bridgestone Revo appears to have taken the all terrains to a new level of performance.
There are other good tires out there, but for my money these are the "best of breed".

Message: You couldn't pay me to run on michelins, the BFG T/A are an okay tire, but they are terrible on slipery (icey) road surfaces. I really am pleased with my Goodyear AT/S all around, with the exception of wear; I have 25,000km (18,000mi)and they are 30% worn. so they could do better in that regard. But maybe that's the price I pay for getting where I want to go, when I want to go there. To each therre own. Good luck with yours.

Message: Best tires in the world are Michelins. Incredible ride comfort and durability. I have the Michelin Pilots on my Dak and they blow the stock Goodyears, or any brand, out the water. That's my personal opinion of course.

Message: I run the Michelin Cross Terrains (? - I believe that's what they are called). Run about $160 a tire though.
I just scored two yesterday for like $90 a piece though! Idiots at NTB believe my bs about them being bald/slick because of a defect,,and gave me a discount,,,,lol - too funny. "Ya, my back tires are bald,,I think something is wrong, and I should be compensated." Toooo easy...

Good score, too bad you had to BS to get it.

Message: It wasn't difficult bs'ing. I mean I was practically laughing when I was explaining it. Besides we're talking about NTB people here - not the tire manufacturer. The tires are great,,and have stood up to 40K+ miles of MY abuse - that's good in my book.
They were probably bored, and not getting any business.
