Subject: computer reset after parts replacement IP: Logged
Message: Im going to replace a timing chain & lifters in a 93 3.9 mag. do you have to reset the pooter when done or will it reset itself? a guy I know that has his own shop was going to do it for me, until he quoted me 1100.00.with friends like that who needs enemas.I was raized on old school motors and computer operated engines are new to me.internals i can handle.

Message: Are you talking reseting or reflashing. Sounds like you're talking about reflashing. Just pull then neg battery terminal to reset but for a custom flash it's gonna cost a lot.

Message: A timing chain and lifters would be transparent changes to the computer. The only time that you should have to reset the computer is if you are changing something that will affect what the O2 sensors in the exhaust see. Even if you don't reset the computer when you need to, it will learn it's new settings itself eventually.
