I was wondereing..what changes they made to the 4.7 v8 in the jeep to make it H.O. Because My 4.7 in my dak is almost exact the same and i wanted to know if I can get the parts from a jeep and slap them on my dak! Inof would hjelp alot..thanks.

While there are many differences the one that makes the biggest torque gain is the cams. I'm happy I swapped them.

THE HO ENGINE HAS BETTER AND STROGER INTERNALS. THE CAMS A LITTLE DIFFERANCE IN TIMING. I BELIEVE THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT MANIFOLDS UP TO 2004 WHEN THEY STARTED TO PUT THE SAME MANIFOLD IN ALL 4.7'S.

The 30 extra horsepower in the Jeep HO comes from the 9.7:1 pistons and HO cams. The intake seems to change the torque curve, but not the horsepower. Dyno results have shown 15hp from the HO cams alone on a Dakota 4.7. The Jeep 4.7 also has knock sensors.

Just a small clarification.
The 4.7 HO has dual knock sensors but the standard 4.7 has no knock sensor at all. The web site quoted above incorrectly notes a single knock sensor on the standard 4.7.
