Subject: EXTREMELY unimpressed with perf. pcm!! IP: Logged
Message: got a new performance pcm today, with the vin written....not impressed AT ALL. ive got a full fastman top end package right now, its not tuned in or anything, but the mp pcm should be a step in the right direction, right??? i know i havent picked anything up, i raced my friend's r/t the other night, he beat me by 1 1/2 car lengths...today, he beat me by the same.
i put 60 miles on the new pcm before racing to 'learn'....whats the learning curve on the new pcm??? what the f is going on here??? i should be near the 12's with what ive got, why the hell am i still sitting in high 14's?/??
yea...its still stock. NO you cant look under the hood.

Message: It's been my experience that Dan's top end deals tend to need something other than what the Mopar PCM gives... Have you talked to Dan? I know of one person that's waiting on a custom flash to make that package work properly--
What's your overall mod list?

Message: Sry, AFI, those mods will put you no where near the 12's unless your truck weighed about 2200lbs or so. Those mods should have you low to mid 14's at best. Sorry to be the one to tell you....

Message: weishaar... thats tottally incorrect as a stock r/t will be running high 14s in a reg cab, assuming its a reg cab (ext cab hit around low 15s... some times even in the 14s from what i've seen on this board)

i do have nitrous, i just have not used it since april...no point in hurting the motor..i was advised not to spray until everything is tuned in right.

Message: Tune it right and you'll get the HP. Dan has worked on my Durango and did the same top end as yours on a friends Durango. With the top end he got the B&G flash and a Uni-Chip to tune it. His is AWD and put 252 HP ant the wheels. How well did Dan say the Mopar will work with that?

Message: 1.82 exhaust? You mean 1.62?
Not knowing the cam setup--- or how he did the heads, it's a crap shoot. Have you dyno'd the truck?
Most times with 2.02s-- from what I have seen, unless you are raising the compression into the 9.5-10.5 range, you'll need gears to affective move the truck-- your low end probably sucks, but the midrange and top end is probably great.
I ran a different way-- went 1.92 RT heads non ported, a mild cam (.512/.512, 208/204 (shorter on the exhaust))-- and have great low end (not as good as guys with 2bbl M1, I have a 4bbl m1-- ) excellent midrange, and a peak hp of 290 rwhp @ 5450 rpm.
So far, with my fat ass- 13.98@100 mph in the 1/4 NA... 2.1 60' Best NX pass - 12.52 @ 110 on the one fitty, and 12.65 @108.5 on the 100 shot (low bottle pressure on the 150, good bottle pressure on the 100).

Message: i can't even remember what my heads are...i believe its 2.02/1.62...or 1.68...not sure...gotta talk to dan...anyway, i gotta get the cam specs, its mild, helped out the top and midrange alot...it feels like theres more in there...just frustrating, you guys know how it is. the dyno shop dan uses isnt using the uni chips anymore, theyve had 'wiring issues' or something, so i think i might be going towards the 'perfect power' setup...mathematically, 300 at the wheels in a 4500 lb truck at 650 above sea level should make me how quick???
sam, did you get to race at the nats??? what was your registration #...did you autocross?? ive got a ton of badass pix from autocross and at the track, lemme know which was yours ive probably got pix of your truck..thanx for the help guys,
john

Message: 300 rear wheel club cab is a 14.2 to 14 flat at 99-100mph combo on street tires, 13.7 with slicks. That is using a cam similar to the 210/220 cams with ported 2.02's. I would guess your are starting out with a single exhaust, right? Makes sure it is a true 3" or step over to the true dual 2.5" exhaust. I did one setup at 278 and cut the exhaust on the dyno and hit 300 becuase the Flowmaster exhaust was too small.

Message: How is his truck a 14.2 to 14 flat? I see plenty of club cabs on the Delphi R/T forum running any where from 13.6 to 13.9 on stock cams and heads. He has 2.02s and a custom cam and your saying low 14s. Makes me never wanna put aftermarket heads on my R/T.

Message: im running the leach headers into the factory cat (dual in, single out) to a 3" flowmaster 50 series, single exhaust....it is a possibility that the exhaust is too small...who makes a good hi-flow cat, and big enough cat-back system for a decent price???
i was also thinking about just putting dumps right before/after the cat...

Message: Get rid of the cat. Ideal setup IMO would be GSmotorsports R/T headers into the true dual 2.5" spintech exhaust side exit. You would probably feel big gains over what you have now and it would sound badass.

Message: NIEL: "252HP at wheels" What engine have you got?
The 5.9 was supposed to generate 250HP off the crank stock, and the 4.7/235HP stock off the crank
So logically, utilizing gearing, you ought to get huge #'s at the wheels (comparatively)

Message: He has the 5.9. Yes the stock 5.9 is 250 at the crank. Accoring to his dyno shop he is working with a 30% drive train loss with the AWD. That would be high 180's HP at the wheels. Getting back to 250 means he has 75-80 HP from the top end. He is not at 350+ with the Kenne Bell he just put on. If you have anymore questions, send me an e-mail and I'll send you his. He worked with Dan a lot.
