Message: I have a 1991 Dodge Dakota Club Cab SE. It has a 3.9L V6, all stock. I step on the gas (flooring it) and not a whole lot happens even after waiting a little it will accelerate still slowly. It has 116,000 miles on this original engine. Could it be that the piston rings are worn out and my compression is lost? I know something is wrong because my moms 3.0l toyota sienna accelerates faster than my kota.

Message: First off that little jap job had better get off the line faster then your truck.
Second, if your rings are gone with that few miles chances are the bearings are shot too from not changing the oil often enough.
Third try rebuilding the carborator on that thing, or better yet, replace it with a performance model from either Jeg's or Summit. A carb with that many miles on it has worn needle valve seats, jets, and even out of round butterfly pivots. and most likely the floats either, if brass have a small leak or if plastic foam are so soaked full of gas they need to be replaced as they no longer work right due to thier being full of gas.
With that age and milage I would consisder a new carb first.
