Subject: tb vs helix + airflow IP: Logged
Message: would I get more h.p from a bigger tb or from a helix spacer? also I was goin to put on a intake perf. sys., but my 3.9 mag has a inlet hose to my stock filter. Its got a air baffle at the grille but I can remove it and put a fine screen in front of the inlet, then ill have direct airflow, and replace stock filter with a k&n.do yall think this would work as good? I read somewhere that u cant use a spacer and intake sys. at the same time.but could i do this, or just use a bigger tb? damn,I think i confused myself even.any info would be appreciated.thanks! Message: forget using a tb spacer that creates turbulance.Trickflow makes one that is $30 cheaper and does a better job.The tb spacers don't always give you noticable gains though. Some engines respond to them more then others.I'd go with a larger tb instead though they are about $400 for a F&B.Hughes makes modified stock ones that are cheaper.I'd use a K&N intake system, just a filter alone won't make any difference.Depending on the shape of the intake tube you may have to shorten it to use it with a tb spacer.Personaly I'd forget about the tb spacer and put the money into a good intake system.
