Subject: 2003 R/T CC Track times inside.. IP: Logged
Message: Ok.. I was prety damn dissapointed in my truck tonite. I feel my truck is choking and cant get whatever its choking on out of its throat. anyways here is the (best)timeslip..
R/T - .576
60' - 2.411
?? - 6.775
1/8 - 10.420
1/8 mph - 67.02
?? 13.5
1/4 - 16.3 @ 83.40
LACR Sea Level Correction time(LACR.net) - 15.81 @ 85.90
My best 60' of the nite was 2.3. Tire pressure was at 32 PSI. Keep in mind I am at 2700' above sea level, 95 degrees, and winds opposite way of 15-20 mph. Mods are intake, muffler and cut-out post cat. I am by no means a newbie nor a professional. my v6 Camaro ran a 15.3 there. Anyone suggest anything? Is this normal for an R/T CC to run this sluggish? Im pretty frustrated and am thinking about saying screw performance and just throw some 20s on there.. any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Message: YES you are choking.
The 360 likes air.
Your 15.8 with a 2.4 60 sounds not far from average with your mods.
better traction and run a 2.1 60' you should be around 15.4-15.5...which is about right for a 2003 club cab.
delphi r/t forum has good info.

Message: RTARNIE,
The 2.4 60' is killing your times! A 15.8 with that 60' should translate to a 15.2 with a 2.1 60'. The rule of thumb is that for every tenth reduced in your 60' time, 2 tenths are reduced from your 1/4 time. In your case that's about 6 tenths! Most cars get better traction, so your Camaro was probably pulling some good 60'ers. A mod or two w/better traction(maybe slicks) and your truck should see high 14s. Don't feel too bad, the potential for better times are there!

Message: Oh, where are you from? Close to LACR? I'm from Ventura County, but stay away from LACR. The track, weather, altitude, and wind are bad, so I've never gone there. I'll usually go to Fontana or Irvindale(1/8 mile), because the track conditions are much better. Try Irvindale, the traction is amazing!

Message: The dakota r/t's are very sluggish when there are increases in temperature and humidity. Things I did to really wake up my 99 cc was Mopar performance headers, MP wires, MP computer, Intense performance stage II with the biggest filter they offer, dumped dynomax exhaust, rollpan w/o spare. I was running Nitto 275-50-17 NT450's for tread. I would let some pressure out of those tires, I run my 03 lightning about 19lbs at the track and 32-35 on the road.

Message: It's normal. R/Ts are over rated pigs. They feel good and fast when you drive them on the road(unless you race and get your a$$ beat) but when you go to the track you see how much they realy suck. I saw a cc S-10 Xtream running low 15s with just a filter, if that tells you anything, it should tell you how much DOdGe sucks the big one.
