What is the best way to check a used Dakota to see if it is "clean" ... no major accidents, no flooding, not a stolen recovery rebuild, etc.

Fortunately, I am not a service engineer or a "top dawg" of any kind, but thank you for the "apparent" compliment. I am better than that, and the chics dig me more because of it. I am a service advisor at a Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep dealership. Trust me, I get more done for my customers than any service manager or "top dawg".

First, try your car insurance company...they may run a CarFax report for FREE for you. Second, try CarFax on the web. If you are strongly interested in a vehicle for purchase, it is well worth the few dollars it will cost you.

CarFax isn't nearly good enough. I almost purchased a project car that was absolutely totaled, but yet CarFax didn't have the info.

jasonB, i was wondering if you could look up something for me. i own a 2001 dodge motorsports dakota. can you find out how many were built in each body style,color, and type of transmission? i know that 1028 were built in total. mine is a black rc,5 spd,3.92 lsd. and my brothers is a cc,auto,3.55 lsd. it would help to know just how rare these are. thanks.

hey people-
I'm a the proud new owner of a '97 Dak, cc V8 (318, of course) 4x4. I love it!!! Sold my 4runner with serious mods to get this (I was a toyota man for 7 years.) Anyway.
A couple questions if you all can help me. I REALLY want to lift this baby. Any suggestions well appreciated. Also, I have the limited slip, but my gear ratio is 3:9, not 3:55 like seems to be the usual. What gives? Any help out there?
