Message: Would relocating my IAT sensor really improve my performance. I currently have a K&N FIPK in my 98 R/T. Should I relocate to the air intake or will this void any warranty with K&N? Any help from you guys would be apprieciated.

Message: What I did was actually go to a Dodge Dealer's parts dept and bought another IAT sensor. It was something like $28. I drilled a hole in my cold air intake tube, wrapped some teflon tape (plumbing tape) around the threads of the sensor and screwed it into the tube. This way I have the option of just moving the wire back and forth between sensors if I decide to bring the truck to the dealer for work. Besides a dealer cannot void your warranty for any mods unless the problem that you are trying to have fixed is directly related or caused by the mod.
Yes, it did improve performance. I do notice some more "pep" in my truck. It's a pretty cheap mod with some good benefits. You should definitely give it a shot.
Good luck!!!

Message: Since the air going through the inlet tube is colder than the air in the intake manifold the computer richens up the mixture a bit. You won't notice much of a differince if any but since evey little bit helps, and it doesnt cost anything to move it, why not?

Message: Or you could leave it where it is and build the IAT adjuster. It's going to cost you about $30-$35 in parts and an hour of your time.

Message: Wouldn't the o2 sensors in the exhaust tell the computer to lean it out if it was running a little rich? And wont a richer mixture kill the cat. converter.

Message: the main thing is voiding the KN warranty. i think it would void it, so your better off running more wire to your inner fender and mounting it there.

Message: Actually K&N Will just send new parts without Returning the old ones. My tube cracked around the TB bolt, they sent a new one with thicker plastic there.
I pulled my plugs after IAT relocation and they were much blacker than normal. I'm not sure this mod helps a 100%. My drag time was 1/10 slower after relocating, but it could be just driver. The next week I dropped 3/10 just by rolling out better. (the IAT was still relocated). It'll be interesting when I run again with it back in the manifold.
