Thanks for that info, but now where do I find these wires to hook to?? My biggest question is where is the old igntion box?? I cant figure out where it is or if there even is one. And I don't thin I have to hook up that many wires?? HELP!! Also do you think this adds much power??

I pulled my instructions out just for you. I have a 99RT also. Large red wire to battery or 12 volt source continuous. Large black to a good ground. Cut the two wires going to the coil(a green/orange and a black/gray). Small red from Msd to green/orange,small white from MSD to black/gray. Now your computer is connected to the MSD box instead of the coil and all you have to do is connect the MSD to the coil. If it is an aftermarket coil. small orange to positive and small black to negative. If stock coil, small orange to green/orange and small black to black grey. Do not mount the box or coil next to the PCM or you may have problems.

Crater......Sounds like you bought a used MSD. Also sounds like you never read up on the MSD at all. The MSD DOES NOT make HP. It gives you a double spark up to a pre determined RPM and reverts to a standard ignition. Along with this MSD, you well need 8mm or 8.5mm plug wires, Dist cap with brass contacts, A quality rotor and new plugs. You might squeak by with your stock coil but most will tell you to up grade it. All in all once you do all this it MIGHT idle a bit smother and MIGHT feel a bit smother on acceleration. Unless you have some serious mods, the MSD has little or no advantages. You are going to notice you need to tune up more often as the double spark is hard on your ignition.

Oh and to answer your question, no it cannot override the rev limiter - unless you fire it from a different way other than the coil wires.

Hi just trying to help a friend out! He has a 92 vw citi golf and he rEcently bought an msd ignition coil and 6al controler...how do I hook it up? We are from south africa and the engine haS some serious mods to it!
