Subject: Best Brake Pads? IP: Logged
Message: I will be installing Power Slot rotors on my 2000 4.7L CC, and wanted to know the best available brake pads you guys know of. Semi-Mettallic are like old faithful, but what about carbon or ceramic? Pros and Cons please, stopping distance, dust, etc.

Message: I recently installed powerslots with hawk s/s pads. I like em. Good stopping ability and hardly any brake dust. Just my $.02

Message: I agree with ScojoDak ... had my hawks pads with the powerslot rotors for a few months now. They are like night and day compared to the stock crap. Much improved stopping and the brake dust is far less also.

Message: Ceranic? only if you are racing, the things don't work well unless they are heated up. So if you just use them for street use and you are cruising down the bulevard and need to panic stop sometime they won't stop as well as the metalics will.

Message: I read somewhere that ceramic pads are prone to eat certain rotors because the material in the pad is harder than the rotor? Any know any truth to this?
Are the Hawk s/s pads semi-matallic?

Message: Go with ceramic. No squeaking, no dust. Any metallic pad will last longer, but will tear up those new rotors faster. Ceramic is best bet for combination of performance and life.
