My friend just bought a Ram 1500 Hemi last weekend. All I have to say is wow. That turck is awesome. I would say it's probably gonna be too long before they put it in a Dak so just get a Hemi Ram with 20" chromes and enjoy.

The 5.7 Hemi will replace the 5.9 in the R/T as of August 19th, 2003 for 2004. The 04 R/T will have a new 6 speed manual only and new exclusive sheet metal and plastic mouldings and will be available in black and red only.

I hate to bust your bubble guys...but here will be no 5.7 HEMI dakota. My best friend works as a dodge truck engineer..and when i asked him if it would happen he said no. I told him they would sell a ton if they did and he agrees with me...but theres alot of penny pinching going around DCX. He did say to look for a bored out version by 2006...6.1L 400+ horsepower..to be in the fullsize ram. I thought for sure the hemi dakota thing would happen..but this guy is really straight forward and honest and he would have told me if they were.

I am not going to say for a fact but I have been told that the new dak will have no such perk as the hemi.I am told a 500lb weight loss with a lighter frame etc aswell as (here we go)a new V6 that produces 255hp and 280 ft/lbs torque. Again I am going by a what I believe to be true as told by the most honest guy I know that works for an engineering firm that was sub contracting there services to DC. He stated that they are happy with the 6 because of the fuel issue compared to an 8 aswell as they have managed to get nice torque for pulling etc,and it is also 500lbs lighter which is way overdue. Last but not least he tells me the truck is smaller but just by a curly one.There is also talk of AWD a few years down the road. But who really knows??!!

For all you guys that claim to know DC engineers and execs...Tell the to get off their a$$es and give us 4.7L guys a mopar pcm. Then tell them to throw a turbo diesel in the dak. Not some 2.8L Jeep Liberty diesel either. I'm talkin about a 4.0L Diesel or something along those lines.
I do like the idea of 500lbs lighter and a 255h.p. V6 though.

All of you guys that know engineers and executives from Chrysler don't know the truth. My name is Bill Dodge. My grandfather invented Dodge. I will make sure that a hemi is in the Dakota. I might even make it a turbo hemi with 600 horsepower that I have been working on in the garage. I am also going to make sure that we make 5.7 hemi neons.

see thats what i hate about these boards..you try to help out..and post honest information...and you get ppl acting goofy. ANybody can "say" they are an DCX exec. like i did...but the only reason i mentioned about my friend being an egineer working on the new trucks..is because he is. If you don't want to believe me..then fine...but just know that i am not like the other as*holes who post stupid misguided info. I only post if i know the answer to a question and can be helpful. Just my 2cents..

In 2004 they will have the hemi in the durango and will be based on the concept durango and in 2005 they will make the hemi dakota and styling will be simialar to the 2004 durango.

Not an owner or exec. ..i am an hourly employee at Centerline Mopar Parts National Distribution Center. My best friend works for Dodge truck as an engineer. I do agree with "haha" that things change on a daily basis..but my friend said they are busy with the "powerwagon" ram project...and they don't have any plans to put a hemi in the dakota...even though most of the engineers there would love to do it. Beleive me i hope this info is wrong...but for right now this moment today this is what i believe. Again my 2 cents.. and i don't know why i haven't become a member yet...i guess thats something i will have to look into.
