 Subject: An odd question about K&N

i just installed my K&N FIPK and i can feel the difference, only thing is i did not install the heat shield. The reason i did this is because i have a stupid helix throttle body spacer ( i did not buy it, it came with the truck) now my question is do i need that heat shield?

You don't need it for the truck to operate fine, but it does help when you have it on...

so it actually helps with performance? the problem is ill have to modify it so the tube actually fits properly, right now it is to high because of the spacer.

Get rid of the spacer they do absolutly nothing for you, and install the heat shield. It will help the intake tube from becoming heat soaked.

exactly...when i said it helps to have it on i meant it helps the filter suck cooler air, the cooler the air the better...
