I have a 318 5 speed reg cab 97 dakota. I ran a 15.6 (in FL) with an intake, no muffler, and new tires. I added a crane custom grind camshaft with 520 and 531 lift (I think, I have to check my cam spec sheet) a 160 degree thermo, mopar PCM, and new intake gaskets. I ran a 16.4,16.1, and a 16.4. I really hope that the problem is that I don't have enough air flow to keep the cam happy. any help is appreciated. I probably need a head job or new heads, and an M-1. hopefully That'll help

I hope that you installed the matching valve springs with that camshaft. That much lift should put the stock springs into coil bind or very close. Also the rockers will need an update with that kind of lift.Exh sys mods (Headers and free flowing exh sys)also needed for the whole package to work.(probably should have been the first mod).Rear end gear change next. What int are you using? What TB are you using? What rear end gearing are you running?
