Message: I found this unanswered post while researching. I'm looking for the answer to the question asked in the previous post. I've got a 2001 4.7, homebrew air intake, ho intake manifold, 72 mm throttle body, single in/dual out flowmaster, 180 t-stat, relocated iat, and next I'm removing clutch fan, ordering the 218 cam from KRC, headers and true dual exhaust, and PCM flash. Should I worry about the fuel injectors yet or am I still okay? Farther in the future, I going to have 75 shot NOS and possibly different heads. Not sure about a supercharger yet. What size injector should be used and when should I add it?

Message: Present fuel injectors should be fine.
Until you go to forced air induction, the 218 cam will have the most affect on cylinder fill, but not significantly, unless your PCM is keeping you close to the point of engine ping.
Not sure which PCM flash you're refering to.
The PCM will adjust the ON time of the present injectors based on O2 sensor data, and other factors.
When you go forcing air down your engine's throat, as with the planned supercharger/nitrous, then you will need higher capacity injectors.
Don't know what size the stock injectors are in the 4.7.

Message: Unless I'm mistaken, the 01 4.7 had the 1 hole wonder fuel injectors. My 02 had the 2 hole, & I installed the 19 lb FMS injectors (4 hole), & noticed an improvement in overall driveability, a much more stable idle, about 1.5 more mpg,and a bit more oomph around 3500 + rpms. Someone has posted here in the past (just got home from Kosovo & don't feel like looking it up) that the FMS injectors are flow rated at 42 psi. We're pushing 49 psi at the injectors, & it ended up at 22.5lbs/hr. The improvement comes from the closer flow tolerances in the FMS units. I picked mine up from ebay about 1 1/2 years ago for $60.00, And am still pleased with their performance.

The equations and images of fuel injectors should help you.
