I don't know what the manufacturers claim but the gains stated above seem just a little optimistic. The best way of course is to run the truck. The lighter truck should also help.Lighter the better.A MP computer upgrade or cal adj should also help.I don't see why an intelligently modified 5.9L shouldn't be able to break the 13's without serious cyl head and short block mods.Camshaft, int,tb,gearing and torque converter mods should be enough with some traction. And all motor no squirt.

I have both the MBRP exhaust and the K&N FIPK2. You will notice the change in power(NOT HUGE). First do the exhaust and give it a spin and then install the K&N and take it around again. Midrange will be noticably different between 80 and 120 Km.

You wont gain no 40 horsepower from a K&N and a cuda exhaust like seriously is sayin! Quarter mile times in the 14.9 range +/- a tenth like he said!

Hey Jakethedork...you were told no less than 2 times...take it to the track moron....jeez. :middlefinger icon:

An airfilter and mufflers arent going to give you much. You need to delete the catalytic convertors if you want real hp. My 2000 CC makes 237hp at the wheels on a dyno. It has a cone filter, relocated IAT, headers, full catless exhaust into duals.
Best time to date has been a 14.6@93 with the airhat ON.

Besides..the airhat is a restriction on the intake. Simply removing it will net you 3/10ths and 3mph in the 1/4

Mid to low 13s with stock longblock is possible if you pick the right components and exercise a few hotrod tricks at the track. A couple of guys with RC R/Ts are nearing the 12s with their factory longblock N/A setups. It can be done.

Amsoil Synthetic Motor Oil = Horsepower

I could not decide (after doing a search) where to place this. I guess this is as good a place as any:

AMSOIL Boosts Horsepower

AMSOIL synthetic motor oils increase horsepower and torque, and that fact’s been made public by Corvette Fever. The September issues features a five-step program to boost the horsepower of the C5 Corvette by 40 HP. “Step four,” writes Corvette Fever, “involves a simple oil change. The Vinci Hi Performance dyno shows several free horsepower by using AMSOIL Series 2000 synthetic lubricant.” The magazine pictures Series 2000 Synthetic 20W-50 Racing Oil, the AMSOIL SDF Oil Filter and AMSOIL Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid.

Vinci Hi-Performance, has been modifying performance cars for over 30 years. Vinci Hi-Performance specializes in late model Corvettes, Camaros, Trans-Ams, Suburbans and Vipers.

No Matter what type of vehicle VHP performs modifications on, or what type of performance package they install, every performance package receives one group of basic ingredients: AMSOIL Series 2000 Motor Oil, AMSOIL Transmission Fluid and Gear Lube, AMSOIL Super Duty Oil Filter and 2-Stage Air Filter.

Roger Vinci was a Valvoline dealer using their DuraBlend Motor Oil. Roger has always recognized the advantages of using synthetic oil in racing but always believed that synthetic oil leaked or contributed to a loss of oil pressure. The only way he would consider becoming an AMSOIL account was to prove it to himself by installing AMSOIL in his personal Corvette and running the car on the dynamometer. He installed Series 2000 0W-30 in his personal ZR-1 Corvette.

After switching to AMSOIL Series 2000 0W-30 and a Super Duty Oil Filter, he immediately noticed the piston slap noise was cut in half and the lifter noise was 100 percent gone. He was also very surprised by the lower oil temperature and an increase in oil pressure!

The ZR-1 was then put on the Dyno. The results: A three horse power gain over the Valvoline DuraBlend, plus another eight horsepower by switching the K&N Air Filter out for an AMSOIL 2-Stage Air Filter. That’s an extra eleven horsepower!

Amsoil Synthetic Oil & Filter = Higher Horsepower?
IP: Logged

Message:

That’s an extra eleven horsepower!

In the "for whatever it's worth" category. I have a client that owns three Corvettes, one Dodge Dakota, and two Jeep Wranglers. He is a "pack-rat" and has saved in his garage every copy of Corvette Fever since 1997 (along with a hundred+ off-road magazines featuring Wranglers and Dakotas). He mentioned this article to me a week or so ago, with the words --- "Dakota owners spend hundreds of dollars to try and squeeze out a few extra horses. Why don't they switch to Amsoil which costs only a few pennies more per oil change.?"

I thought someone might appreciate the article and info.

Were those dyno runs all done under the exact same circumstances - same dyno, same air temp, same engine operating temp, etc. ? I find it hard to believe an 8 hp increase from swapping out a K&N filter.

Amsoil Increases Horsepower and Torque
IP: Logged

Vinci Hi-Performance, has been modifying performance cars for over 35 years ... and now uses nothing but Amsoil Products. Vinci Hi-Performance specializes in late model Corvettes, Camaros, Trans-Ams, Suburbans and Vipers.

Yes, the tests were all under the same cirmcunstances, and they retested and retested. I feel that switching ALL fluids to synthetics was the main reason for the increase. It has been demonstrated over and over again on television (all the Car and Truck shows) that switching to synthetics "can", and in most cases "does" increase horspower and performance.

I simply posted this to offer an "inexpensive" way for Dakota owners to get a "little more power" so they could beat other "equally optioned" Dak's on the local strip. Eleven HP might be just enough to get your bumper across the line before your competitor.

I have other articles to prove and back up the claims ... Not just Amsoil Articles ... but from every Syntheetic Oil Company ... and hundreds of test facilities and race teams.

Sorry ... Maybe my posting the above seemed like a flagrant advertisement ... but 11 More HP and Increased Torque might get you across the line first. GOOD LUCK !!!

3 horse on the fluids I could believe, but 8 horse gain from your filter ? Since you stress fluids in your reply, I feel like you "dodged" the question. Anyone backing him up on this ?
