Subject: Removing pipe plug

Message:
Last year I relocated my IAT sensor and put a brass plug in my manifold. I used thread tape. The plug has to be removed with a screw driver and it is hard to remove with out stripping the screw driver slot. Does any one have any ideas on how to remove this? Thanks in advance.

What I would do is use an impact screw driver. They are made for losening frozen screws/bolts. Set it for "losen" and you hit the head with a hammer. This seats the tip and it rotates a bit. You can buy a whole set with various tips for under $10. Being brass I would go this route before you tear up the slot in the plug.

I don't think I would try that on cast aluminum, I know its to late now but you didn't have to put it in to tight your only sealing vacuum

I wold cut a cross slot in it with a dremmel and get the tightest fitting screwdriver I could find or steal, then have a friend push on the driver while you turn with a cresent wrench.. Yes the screwdriver must be a square shank
