How can you say Flowmaster suck???
They were around YEARS before the new guys made anything descent! And at the track, you STILL see crap loads of Flowmasters on nasty cars (if they have any mufflers at all)!

Dude, it's just a preference of sound. Just like picking Coke over Pepsi, it's a matter of personal taste.

The Flowmaster muffler is a proven muffler.
Some times people just pick one brand and say the other sucks. Look at people who love Edlebrock carberators and say Holley sucks. That idiot just couldn't use his brains to dial in the Holley with the correct jets, powervalve, etc but you will NEVER see a serious drag machine run a Edlebrock, Holley KILL those in performance and STILL do 30 years later!
Oops, did I go of subject or what? LOL!

I think there is nothing wrong with FLowmasters. And remember, they have more than one model these days. If you can get the old school single chamber 40 series, nothing would top that. The Delta Flow 40 series (quieter version) is what you see stocked at the stores.

My Flowmaster. I hope you have your speakers turned up.

Nitraking...I got the Spintech Prostreets they have a mean sound to em and my truck pulls harder now. I think on the graph the Flowmasters flowed somewhere around the 90 range and the Spintechs flowed 170...I dunno how accurate those charts are cuz you know ever muffler company has some sort of graph where they make their product better than everyone elses. But on the buttdyno I can tell these mufflers are getting the exhaust out faster than the Flows.

Well I have 3" true duals and no cats so they're louder than the 40 series Flows. They're supposed to be the loudest street legal ones in the Spintech selection...next loudest are the Sportsman series.

I have a Flowmaster 50 series single in/out right now, and I like the way it sounds; it seems to have added a little more pep in the mid-high rpm range. I'll be switching to a dual-out exhaust in a little bit, and I may go with the 40 series Delta Flow.

A straight-through muffler (Magnaflow, Dynomax, whatever) and a chambered muffler (Flowmaster) are a bit different. Both types flow more than stock mufflers, but the straight-throughs obviously do more for performance, and the Flowmasters are about sound and slight performance. Just my $0.02

Problem w/ Dynomax and Magnaflows is that the material inside deteriorates or burns up after time then you gotta replace em down the road.

nitraking, no they didn't pay me. I had to pay for the Flowmaster LOL!

I'm just saying, there's nothing WRONG with a Flowmaster, period. Some people may prefer the other brands these days. But they shouldn't go bashing another good product that has made people happy for YEARS!

I still like the sound of mine. I'd change to another brand if I knew for SURE that it made a NOTICABLE improvemnt on my truck. Each application between brands and styles could differ given different lengths/sizes of pipes, etc. You just never know until you try it.

BTW, the 40 series Delta Flow sounded like shiit in a big way on our V6 Chrysler!!! It sounds great on my friends Chevy V6 tho. Go figure!

You want better flow use 3' dual out on the flowmaster. I got flowmaster 40 on my 99' 5.2 and it sounds like a cop car on steriods. I can still hear my intake from the k&n fipk2, like a vacum cleaner under the hood. I couldn't be more satisfied with this setup. hell, the truck was slower with the exhaust dumped after the cat. Just ordered the 02 sim to cut the cat out, but flow master rocks, look how many bracket racers use em.

MikeD,

not trying argue but more just curiosity. When you had the flowmaster (if i remember correctly), didnt you just have a single 3" flowmaster? I mean, the way you typed;

"Well I have 3" true duals and no cats so they're louder than the 40 series Flows"

... makes it sound like you didnt have that before. And if so, wouldnt opening the whole exhaust up to a 3" true dual with no cats do a lot more than changing from one performance muffler to another?

Like i said before... when we met a long time ago, i cant remember what you said you had but i thought it was something like a 3" single exhaust.

I personally have had four different mufflers on my truck... FlowTech Terminator, Dynomax Racing Bullit, Flowmaster 40 series, and a Garret TB03 Turbo.... and of course they all resembled the same power except for that damn garret... a LOT more power than the rest ;-)
