Subject: magnum timing cover IP: Logged
Message: Hello all. Does anyone know if a timing cover from a pre magnum engine will work on a magnum engine? I just need to know if it will bolt on and work. Are the cranks the same? Will the magnum cam fit under the cover? Thanks for any help.

Message: I have been told but not seen for myself that the mag cover is more shallow than the LA cover. The LA cover had to clear a fuel pump eccentric so thats probably the reasoning there.
I think the cranks are the same but not positive on that one.
"Will the magnum cam fit under the cover" not exactly sure what your asking there.....under what cover, the timing cover? In short....Mag cams wont work in LA's at all, their roller and most LA's are hyd.

Message: You should be able to swap timing covers between Magnum and pre-Magnum motors.
