Subject: HO CAM PROBLEM?? HELP!!
IP: Logged

Message:
Alright I put in the HO cams and the truck is missing and idling completely off (it's not driveable)!! I followed the directions from http://www.buymopar.com/store/jeep.html
It seemed straight forward. I was at TDC with the V8 marks at 12:00. I pulled the put stock ones out and put on the new ones. It never had me do anything with the rockers through. What could I have do wrong???? Thanks

You may have accidently knocked one or more rocker arms off from where they should go. On the 4.7, they just sit in place, and the cam keeps it there. They more out of place easy and are difrficult to see if they are off without specifallsy looking at all 16.

It could be out of time, and you could have damaged the cam sensor also, all would produce those symstoms.

If I were you, I'd take off the covers and look ar all the rockers closely first, it the easiest to fix.

Godd Luck

I removed the cam sensor during the install. I had some problems getting the pin to line up with the gear on the right cam. Maybe when I rotated the cam to line it up one of the rockers moved, but I looked at everything on that side pretty close b/c of the lining up trouble. One thing I thought was strange was that by the time I got it all lined up it was putting a load on the number two intake valve??? But like I said I was at TDC to start with!

Did you install the right cam in the same position the other came out ? I did mine TDC on the compression stroke and noticed that cam would sit flat in more than one position; were you sure you had the pin in the same orientation as the one that was removed ? Have you rechecked all the plug and injector wiring connections to make sure they are properly connected ?

I had it at TDC on the #one piston so it was in a neutral position. I have checked all the connections and vaccum hoses and everything is hooked up right. The right cam would sit flat with the pin around the 10 or 1 o'clock positions. But I can't see that making a difference as it will only line up with the gear one way? I sat it at the 10 position and rotated it till it lined up at 12 then bolted the gear on. I won't get a chance to look at it till tonight. Any other thoughts???
