What is a good operating temp?? At idle? WOT??

I just installed my exhaust temp sensor/gauge and at idle I'm reading about 980 degrees. I called Dan "The Fastman" Arcand and he says that sounded about right for a 5.9 V8. The bung is installed right on the header pipe about 3" away from the head.

I'm also specially interested on what temps you guys experience with a supercharged application as I'll be installing a Kenne Bell soon.

Thanks in advance!!!!

John

I'm wondering have you got any other readings
that you would like to share.....Drove a KW with a 400cid BC Cummins diesel that would get alittle toasty if you would let her pull too hard, for too long....Ridin' along she ran 750 to 1000'F....
What set-up are you using for the pyrometer, name brand etc all that good stuff????? dj
