Message: The GTS2 and Shaker hoods suck in the most outside air out of the aftermarket hoods for the Dakota/Durango, and are both excellent quality hoods.
I always recommend that anybody looking for an aftermarket hood should go for what they think looks good to themself first before worrying about a bit of performance. The bonuses that come along with having a lighter/flowing hood are nice, but you should like the way it looks first and foremost.

Message: I bought a ram-air hood from AAR reproductions, it's a fiberglass hood that looks good on my truck, gets some attention sometimes, and the best thing is since its a funtional hood there is a very slight increase in performance, it seems to work best when the air is moist or on really cold days, if its hot outside there isn't any benifit at all that is unless your going over 100 mph

Message: The GTS2 hood is the most efficient. You can
look through the NACA duct and see the air
filter. It is housed in a custom air box. You
can't do that with a shaker.

Message: From a style perspective, cowl hoods belong on Chebby's, not on a Dodge. I'd go with a ram air hood on a Mopar.

Message: Thx everyone for your inputs. One more thing , how much is the shaker ? I know Keystone bought the molds. I wonder if the price went up. And whats the avg. price to have a hood painted ?
thx

Message: I think the shaker now costs close to $1000.
It costs approx. $250-400 to have a hood painted depending on where you have it done.

Message: i agree with b1, cowl hoods are much better on chevys than dodges, but for my gen 1, i dont have much choice, i can get a 2 3/4" cowl hood for $295 or an AAR rallye ram air hood for $439, and i am living on a student budget, so im opting for cowl
