Subject: 4.7 Cam simple ??
IP: Logged

Message:
Are the HO cams for the 4.7 different lengths??? I ordered mine from Mopar.com and they both came unpackaged and both are exactly alike. I thought I saw in previous forums where one is supposed to be longer than the other. Help please before the truck is torn down.

Mike

IIRC, the left one is the longer one...

They are of unequal length...

actually the right bank cylinder head holds the longer of the two cams. the right bank cam has the provisions on it for the CMP.

Guys thanks. If it wasn't for the for the Forum, the truck would have been in pieces 30 miles from the house. Be careful with BUYMOPAR.com. I specifically asked them about the cams and the guy told "not to worry" they ship these every day.
Thanks again!!

Snafu may be straight from D-C mis-marking these. I recently had same problem from a dealer and someone else with a different source. I wouldn't have known either if it weren't for all the info available here.

OK, by left I meant when looking at the engine/pulling it apart. That's correct, right? :)

Well just got off the phone with buymopar.com. They did send the wrong cams. I got the short ones...that means another Dak owner got a pair of the long ones. MOPAR.com was helpful..sending out the right cam before I return the other. For info the 11AB cams are the 18"" The 12AB are the 19"

So how about my waranty if I installed a pair of those cams in my 2003 4.7?

Does it void the waranty doing the cam swap?

The cams are stock OEM in the 4.7 Grand Cherokee. Don't think the dealer (DODGE) would really ever know they were in there unless you told them. I was going to have the dealer install and they had no issues with warranty...installing Friday (if the right cam comes in)will save about $400.00.
