High 14's to mid 14's with around 230-235hp at the wheels. Depends on where you located. High is slower, sea level is the best. Also low temps help too.

well i just bought a used mopar pcm for my 97 5.2 and so the dakota starts then dies in 5 seconds. i have a full tank of 93 octane. the dealership told me that 98 and up each pcm had the vin number encoded in it, so my 97 shouldnt be a problem. i asked them to reflash it or something and they said it wouldnt help. so what the fcuk should i do? i couldnt wait to put it on and feel the diff, and now its just in my glove box.

I'd be worried about spending THAT MUCH MONEY to have a eeprom programmed. Kind of like the days of paying people to program the satalite cards and then the hard ware and software went for over $500 and sh!t, now you can buy that stuff for $30 and get the software for FREE!!!

Someone needs to LEAK the software for this PCM programming!!! Hell, you could download the flashes from one another HERE and keep your stock program as a back up if you didn't like the one you tried!!!

Are there any programmers here???

I think that takes some pretty specific programing equiptment. I would not want some hack to do it anyway.

I doubt it would be too complicated to programm a eeprom chip. You just need the hardware.
I know some shops sell stuff for other cars out there.

Look how those satellite cards were in the beginning. Now there's nothing to it when programming those epproms, etc. All you need is an interface to program from a lap top, etc. Like i said, hardware was over $500 2 years ago, and is everywhere now for $39 etc.

It's only a matter of time before it gets around.

I have a friend who is a computer programmer and who likes to do stuff like messing with car computers. But I havn't had much luck finding his number. Bummer.

paysonbadboy, just as a little friendly advice, DC has been EXTREEEMELY protective of their code. If you manage to get around it with a sniffer and some EPROM programming, that's one thing. But don't go looking for or encouraging someone to leak anything from within the Corporate office on that one. There are recent examples of people acquiring 4.7L and hemi code and shortly after getting visits from some boys with badges. Getting caught in possession of DC's proprietary information without authorization will most likely result in some jail time.

graphiteRT, thanks for the info. I never even thought it that way. I guess any public mods to the eeprom would be basically "hacked" like anything else and be basicaly "illegally" acquired?

You'd think though that DC would be a little more friendly and release more codes so more performance shops in our areas don't have to keep turning us down cuz they can't get any tables for flashes or custom tuning.

Ford and GM didn't seem to have a problem releasing anything and pretty much every freakin speed shop I goto here in Dallas can hook an F-body or Stang up to a laptop and custom tweak it.

Makes me sick.

Stop me if I'm wrong - please!

But,,,When I spoke to Marty at KRC once about flashing my '01 4.7 he told me it might take some time. I asked why. He said that there are some guys who work at a dealership,,or DC in the area who 'take home' some equipment,,and that's when they do the flashes - sparatically. This was about a year ago though when I was looking at one,,and wanted to see why it was soooo difficult/expensive to get it done. The guys who took the equipment/software home were really sticking their necks out,,so that was one reason it was expensive.
I've got no clue if it's true,,or if I'm remembering this wrong,,so please don't flame me if I am. Just what Marty told me.

Mike, the attitude within DC is slowly changing, but you can't expect them to go from nothing to everything overnight. The code release is packaged as a software tool kit that is available for sale in the aftermarket now, but it's fairly expensive. I don't know all the history behind the Ford or GM stuff.

Zendak, he may be referring to B&G. There have been all kinds of rumors about their source of software. If it isn't on the up and up eventually it will get cut off. I've already commented here on the pricing issue. It's too bad people have to rely on or seek out less than honest sources for this sort of stuff. Even Leach Co originally had to get their stuff through a very circuitous method, but at least it wasn't illegal.

FWIW, when we start doing flashes here shortly, it's with an authorized copy and completely on the up and up.
