Message: I reset mine by just pulling the connecotr on the PCM closest to firewall and leave it off for 30 second. Hook it back up and it's reset. No need for a 10MM wrench to undo battery cable. Turning on the ignition doesn't do anything to ehlp reset the computer. Th theory behind it is it removes any stored up voltage in the system, but if you have your doors open, or the underhood light, they will remove any stored power themsleves with the lights.

Message: Well Mr. Gates, I've been doing it that way for three years now and havn't fried a PCM yet, so much not be too bad on it. I know many other Dakota owners who do it the same way. It was only a suggestion for an easier way to reset the PCM. Keep doing it your way, and I'll keep doing it mine.

Message: pcm man,
I think I've heard of that problem when the MP PCM is not flashed with the correct VIN or mileage when being installed. Easily fixed tho. Throw in ur original PCM, if this solves it, obviously ur performance PCM is either faulty or needs teh VIN corrected. If its faulty hopefully you can get it reflashed with the MP prgoramming.

Message: PCM man, you can't get a VIN re-flashed into the Mopar PCM. It's a one time deal. If it don't work, then it don't work. Some do, some don't. When swapping from one truck to another, it's always hit and miss as to if it will work or not.

Message: It depends a lot on road conditions, espically if it's stop and go
traffic, I've had problems with mine stalling out at lights after
resting the computer, so your best bet would be to find a local
road without any stops and just go along at a good clip and
eventually it'll settle eveything out for you, and it's true that
disconnecting the pcm isn't the best thing, but I've never heard
of anybody ruining one by doing it that way, I always play it
safe and disconnect the battery better safe then sorry right.

Message: 2007 Dodge Dakota. Battery was out for a week.
When replaced, truck starts with headlights and
tail lights. The door for the HVAC work but
they are wrong. Windows work, electric seat but
no gauges, no interior light and no control
over headlight or other accessories. I did a
PCM reset with the fuzes, re-tried the battery
disconnect with the 30sec key to
start.....still nothing. What would be my next
step? The PCM should still be good. All the
truck did was sit for a week without a battery.
Thanks for any assistance. RayMan

starts up and idles fine, it will drive fine in reverse. When I put
it into 1st, 2nd, or drive the engine dies immediately. Can’t
even keep it going by pumping the gas. Anyone have any
ideas? Had a code 1684 come up on a scanner.
