I am fixing to get the cuda style exhaust from mbrp and was wondering what intake would best compliment it? I am looking for something with Performence and looks. I have a 4.7 L reg cab.

I've never actually used one or seen one up close but the Intense Performance Stage III sure looks good. I have a homebrew on mine with MBRP split duals but if I had the money, that's the one I'd get. Just can't justify spending the cash on something that I'll likely get no more performance out of.

I made a custom intake for my 4.7 with Vibrant 3" aluminum tubes from an import tuner store. I use a K&N drop-in and a Fernco 4" inlet in place of the snorkel, with the rubber flap removed. Total cost about $150. Awesome performance and sound when you stand on it. Darcy's setup inspired mine.

I own a 2001 RC 4.7 5-speed 3:92. The only other engine mod is a single inlet/dual exit Flowmaster 70 with 2 1/2" duals. My "home brew" air intake setup was inspired by the one Darcy did. I noticed that the factory air hat had two "exit ramps", which served as sound-reducers, I guess. Now I've got a smooth path between the air box and throttle body. Here it is. Two 3" diameter Vibrant aluminum tubes, part no.#2173 and #2176 came from a "tuner shop" that caters to "fast and furious" market, which are popping up everywhere. I bought the four 3" hose clamps there. I then cut a 7" section out of the straight 18" tube, and 3" off one end of the elbow tube. The three red 3" Spectre boots (air box/center/throttle body) came from a regular performance shop (also came in blue and yellow). The humble 4"/4" sewer drain inlet (Fernco P1002-44) came from Home Depot. Use one of the hose clamps provided to mount the small diameter end over the former snorkel inlet on the stock air box. The "bell" shape is now ready to catch more cool air from where the rubber flap used to be, plus whatever "cowl induction" the stock snorkel grabbed. I use a K&N drop-in. Get ready to ROCK. Without the Fernco mounted, the 4.7 moans like an old 440 with the air cleaner lid off! More throttle response, and mpg. Total cost: about $150, including the filter. You couldn't GIVE me a manufactured intake now! Armor-all the boots and polish the tubes, and you're ready to show. The entire assembly process takes about an hour. The two tube cuts takes the most time; slow with a hacksaw (masking tape circle), faster with bandsaw. Deburr and sandpaper the fresh cut. Someday, I'll get around to a photo post here.

I think that I will go with the intense performance intake, stage 3. I'm not really into the homebrew thing, even though they look nice. That way if I mess something up, I have someone to blame, ha, ha. Anyway does anyone have pictures of theirs on the truck? I would like to see some of the color combos. The search engine doesn't sem to be working now, at least not on my computer. Anyone like or dislike the system?

Intense performance STAGE III is the best. I personally own one on my 5.9L durango, and the performance increase is very noticable.

I have the intense performance stage 3 and its sweet. I added the magnaflow cat back and the truck sounds and feels great(probably more just sound, but who cares, lol).

I have the intense performance stage II on my 3.9, and it is very nice. I am leary about going to stage III though. It just seems like there would be alot more restriction. Either way, it is definitly a toss up between K&N FIPK and Intense-Performance.

Gotta say I'm a K&N fan. There's a reason they are on every single turbo diesel marine engine. It's works great on my truck too. Plus they stand behind the product and warranty any problems, no questions asked. That's a big deal to me.

I dont think from a performance stand point there is any difference in any of the intakes some just look better than others, If someone wants to argue this I would like to see some dynos?. I have tried my intake in several configurations and I am running with stock airhat and airaid on now.

Ok folks, there are a ton of *ideas* of whats best here... but WHO has some actual numbers for us to crunch?? I can't believe that out of the thousands of intake installs, there is no actual numbers!

*etc...
Lets figure out who has the numbers so we can make informed decisions about what is **BEST**.

Guys, they are all the same. You are sucking
hot under hood air through a big straw. You
have to go with a GTS2 hood. It was designed
by 2 engineers. It has a NACA duct connected
directly to a custom air box. Forget about the
ram air effect, if you want. You can see the
filter when standing in front of the truck. When
the truck is running you can hear the air being
sucked into the air box. If you have the need for
speed, then it's the way to go.

all right now for my opinion...i have used both yes both the k@n and ip stage 3 and i have to say for the price the ip stage 3 is the best...it isn't sucking in the hot air...it's pullin air in from outside...through a hole cut in the rubber beside the radiator...i've noticed a big difference in throtlle response and top end power with the stage 3... i would definately recommend it...nice gains in hot weather.

100% outside air. The intake is loudest at 3000 to 3500 RPMs but I'm used to it.
It's 3 inch ABS wrapped with reflective foil and a 3 inch K&N cone type filter.
Did home made IAT adjustment to compensate (inline resistor) IAT still operational.
For the love of all that is holy, build your own and dont waste your money on crap that has no dyno's to back it up! Home brew usually works better on those anyway.
