I'm looking for the best bang for the buck street legal slicks I can get for my stock 15x8 Durango wheels. Brand and size would be great also what is a good tire for the front..maybe something thats light weight. Right now I have 20 inch RT's on (my Durango) and I can only seem to run a very consistant 10.223 at 70 mph in the 8th with MAJOR tire spin. Haven't got a posi yet so thats one reason but I'm stepping up to 4.10's and a auburn posi very soon. Thanks

I have a pair of 27 X 11.50 16 Mickey Thompson Pro sportsman Steet leagal soft compound Drag tires mounted on stock 16 inch rt mags They worked on a Viper v10 dakota I will sell for $400 or offer. These will work at drags or on street leagal in 50 states because they are DOT approved. Email me Hotplymouth@juno.com Also my stock 2002 quad cab 4x4 runs 10.45 in the 1/8 so you are spining away about 1.5 seconds thrugh the 1/8 mile

Yeah, but don't forget I'm driving a Durango. My biggest problem is I don't have a posi and I weight about 4700 lbs. I think if I could make a run on my old stock 15's (running 20's now) with some tread (stock tires are pretty bald) I think I could get real close to breaking into the 9's in the 8th. I'm running with about a half a tank of gas, no spare and powerbraking at about 1500 rpm. Next time I'm thinking about removing my K&N filter from my cold air and seeing if that can help any.

Just make sure you read the fine print on whatever drag tires you buy. The Hoosier QTP and Mickey Thompson E/T Streets, even though they have a DOT rating, they still aren't street legal. My Hoosier QTP hvae written on them, not for highway use, which means not legal on the highway. The DOT is only there to make them useable in the street classes for drag racing.

mods on my Durango: Fastman TB, JBA plug wires, autolites, brass cap and rotor, accel coil, "homemade" cold air, Transgo shift kit, IAT relocation, 3 inch Dynomax cat-back, TV cable adjustment, 180 themostat
*note-- this is a 2wd Durango with a 5.9 and is somewhat lighter than even the RT. Best time to date is 10.223 at 70mph and worse being 10.50 at 66 mph (thanks to traction problems)in the 8th mile.

Hell, thats a easy question...no money! Besides I don't think there is an RT on this board or anywhere for that matter that can haul 7 adults and groceries and still run in the 15's with "homemade" stuff. :)

awesome, i wish i had bought a durango for my 6 5' tall a$$, then i could be a punk a$$ like u bitttch lol im joking
theres a few RTs here that are totally modded, like supercharged, nitrious, and bored to 408 with all the mods running 11s. i always wondered if someone put that much effort into a durango 2wd 5.9liter, what the outcome would be
damn boyz

Thats another easy question. Fastman is working on a Durango with a 408 that he says runs high 11's easy. There was a 4.7 Durango in Mopar Now a few months ago that was running 12's..he had a blower and nitrous. So, if your pocket book is big enough you can go fast no matter what. I'm not that interested in going that fast in mine..besides I'm working on a 71 Dodge Dart with a 440 that should be pushing out about 500hp or so..it will run 11's naturally aspirated. later

I'd stay away from the BFG drag radials. I've
got a set I run on my 'stang and they wear
really fast on the street. (Don't work well at the
track either IMHO)

Nitto drag radials are pretty good, but
expensive.

Best "Bang for the Buck" would be the
"American Racer" tire, which used to be
McCreary. They're actually dirt-track stock car
tires and are about $90 each new.

Try Butlertire.com for more info.

Later,
Lemmers
