Message: A bad spark plug or one with too large a gap can cause an idle misfire. So can a partially clogged fuel injector.

Message: I have an '01 4.7, the idle has been rough since new. The dealer says everything checks out fine,I also changed plugs to autolites and no change. If you find a reason for this please post it.

Message: what duner said.
I have a 01 4.7, and since new, it's idled smooth as silk!
Seems to be another one of those 'automatic' tranny problems, mines a 5spd manual.
