 Subject: 4.7 Dak vs. Ford Contour SVT???

I have a friend that has the I think a 99 contour svt.He wants to race, but before i do i want to see what my chances are. He says his contour is stock. I have a 4.7 QC 2002 Volant intake, Flowmaster exhaust. Any input would be appreciated before i get embarrassed. By the way i just installed that Volant, and i love the sound of it, and a little more pep. Thanks.

i was next to my friends stock svt contour. i had a reg cab 1999 2 wheel drive 5 speed 5.2 liter v8 with exhaust and intake and mopar pcm. since when i launch i either burn out into 3rd, or i feather the throttle and dont go fast, he smoked my ass. but the other day i smoked a acura RL and it ended at 128 on the highway

ryan, are you an auto or a manual tranny? If you're an auto, he'll probably beat you. If you're a manual, it'll be a total drivers race...
I used to own a '99 CSVT myself, so I know them well. Great handling cars. And at 6000 RPM that engine has got to be one of the best sounding in the entire world, bar none! A good driver with moderate bolt-ons can usually get high 14's (like 14.9x-14.8x). They run about 15.4-15.2 stock for the most part.

It's going to be a total drivers race then dude. It's actually a very good matchup. Run him and try not to spin off the line. If he doesn't have a limited slip diff installed in the 'tour, then you'll kill him. hell, if he revs too high, he'll grenade his stock diff and you'll have him anyway. But always beware the Contour SVT with a Quaife LSD installed. Usually the flywheel, clutch, underdrive pulley, and that Quaife go in together. He'd kick your a$$ at that point (seeing as he could rev to 3500 RPM and just dump the clutch, grab like a leech, and rip off a 2.2 60 foot time).
