What exactly does a FIPK K&N Filter help? I have a 99 R/T CC with a stock intake and a K&N Filter would a FIPK be better?

I also have a 99 R/T cc, mines stock sept for a flowmaster and when I went to buy a FIPK a schmuck salesman told me the AIRAID setup was the same for less $$$ so I bought that and its not the same at all, it doesnt have the little wall thing that the k&n has.
Maybe I dont know what im talking about but I think this one is sucking all the hot air from the motor as where the k&n wouldnt.

The K&N FIPK replaces all the stock restrictive piping and the airhat.
