Subject: need help removing lower ball joints! IP: Logged
Message: I am doing a lift on my 97 Dakota 2wd and decided to replace ALL the ball joints at the same time. The problem is that the lower ones are riveted on the lower a-arms. I was planning on just grinding the heads [rounded top part?] off and using a big hammer to pop the rivets out the bottom. I already have the new ball joints, which are held in place by 4 nut/bolts through those holes. Is this a safe plan, or is there something I should know? Thanks!

Message: I used a drill on the lowers, and then took my demmel (power tool of choice) to clean up any residual rivit head, and the rivits pop right out. Good luck
