Hello everyone. I had the opportunity to attend the All Mopar Southern Nationals at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds Ga on 24 May 2003. There was a black Dak gen III Reg Cab R/T that ran a 12.45 and a 12.49 1/4 mile. There were other Daks and Rams racing but none that I saw were even close to the speed of this one. I want one. hehe

I saw the nitrous bottle in the back but was wondering what else would have to be done to a Dak to get this kind of speed? Supercharger also?

I have never raced before and have only recently became interested in the straight-line variety of the sport. It doesn't cost that much to race and looks like a lot of fun. Putting the money into the truck to make it faster is where the expense comes in but you can do that a little at a time if needed. I'm rambling.... :-)

Anyway, I had a good time at the track and will go again sometime.

Peace.

I run a 12.56 on a weak 150 shot with mine (no bottle heater, pressure in the 750-800 psi range).

Heads, cam, headers, intake, tb, rockers..

That'll get into the 12s.

The KRC truck went 11.9's at 116?(not real sure about the mph)It definitely had more in it too. It spun a pretty good bit out of the hole.

I was there....

Got my personal best.

It was Roy E.'s CC Red R/T

Runs were made in full street trim (no weight reduction) BIG speakers in it, etc... It was run on slicks of course.

Check KRC's website for his truck.

There were several of us out there.

The 12 second R/T mentioned in the post by J.S. was a stock internal, mild bolt-on 360, on the spray.

Tripper's truck was out there too.
He was moving right on along too, but he was wasting half of his runs blowing rubber off of his street 17" tires.

His truk is on their website as well.

We had a blast....

NotchLX picked up half a second with his true duals and a little tuning.

I didn't pick up a damn thing other than .03 thanks to some nasty humidity..... oh well.

Tim Edens was running consistent 12.9's in his Jeep GC.

Roy Evans truck tipped the scales at 4450 and ended up with a slip-slidin' 11.93 @ 116mph.

Tony Cellana whipped at least two of the Vipers there spraying his way to several 12.2's and running 13.3's on the motor.

There were a few other local Dakotas down there such as a 1994 CC running a 125 shot on a 318 clocking in at a 13.3 and about 105mph regularly.

Tripper was making passes on Friday night to the tune of 13.5's @ 116 mph.... stock 17" tires and stock rear suspension.... basically he was hooking up about mid-way thru 3rd gear.

I went for a ride in Tripper's truck.... I have never been in a situation where ROLLING into the pedal (not stomping it) would produce wheel-hop in 3rd gear at 80+ mph...... needless to say, Tripper is not only a wild man, but seriously in need of some Cal-Tracs and a Tremec. The NV-3500's days are limited. Oh, did i mention that Tripper drives his truck (his only vehicle) 48 miles to work every day? Holy crappolie....

Anyhow, what a great time. Hope we get to do it again sooner than next year's meet. As for the answer to the original post, that's Tony Cellana's purple R/T. He was running nitrous to go 12.45's, and basically has taken the weight of his truck down to about 3300 lbs with him in it....

Hahaha! I usually just put that in the window with the X to make sure I can have the 287 in the window. Some Saturdays at Commerce, there will be 300+ cars, and so I just got into the habit of sporting that number early last year.

I had a lot of fun till I blew a head gasket on Sunday, I would've liked to go a few more round and take home the cash.
Also that track dosen't "hook" worth a sh*t
My 60' times were a tenth or more off.

Man, I'm sorry I missed that. Well, hopefully I'll be down there next year with my '92. Marty's currently working on a "Lightning Killer" longblock to go in the Dakota, and I'm getting him to "work-up" a complete fuel system to go with the package.

I'm shooting for 12.30s to 12.40s on the motor. I would shoot some spray on it, but I didn't get the forged option with the engine. I should be getting the engine within the next week to 2 weeks. I'm hoping to get a couple passes on it before the season's out.

...see you all next year!

QuikZJ!! What did you do to the suspension on your Jeep? We were going nuts over your launches. The whole front comes up and the rear squats pretty damn hard in the right rear...

I guess no more sway bars, but what else??

PS- Bummer on the head gasket. Hope you get that one hooked up soon.

As far as the suspension it is mostly stock except for no front sway bar, Hochtkis rear lower control arms, and a air bag in the RR spring with not enough air apparently.
Luckily we pulled the jeep down from Charlotte in the enclosed trailer
I'll have the gasket in by the end of the week
Anyone know about a September race in Alanta.

Go to www.atlantadragway.com and look under the schedule of events. It's the Hayes Mopar Meet on Sept 5 & 6.... It'll be smaller than the Reynolds event, but if you're in Mooresville, it'll be a lot closer.

Commerce is a great track. ANd the pits are paved. Heh.

You ever run at Mooresville, QuikZJ?

We used to have a little Dakota crew down there.

We could setup a mini meet sometime this summer.

The Mustang has been retired.

We will definitely need to set something up for up there sometime.

I haven't ran at Mooresville with the supercharger yet... I was running mid 9's the last time I ran there. I'm sitting at 8.5-8.6's now, so I still have a little ways to go.
