i took off that gay plastic piece that is right in front of the air intake. should i put a screen there or just leave it like it is?

yes, i said gay, b/c it has homosexual tendecies to other plastics peices in my car. no i dont need a job to afford a aftermarket intake, i just take off the gay plastic piece that goes into the fender, that way i dont get the colder air, instead i get warmer air from around the engine bay. also i did this so the intake wouldnt be long enough, therefore it would have less pressure and during WOT it doesnt pull as hard. im gay b/c i put my fingers in the plastic tube. i will also use this screen in my front bumper, grill and i will cut out the fog light holes and put some screen there. heck, il put some on my tailpipe too, maybe i will get like 50 hp.

If you remove the plastic piece (gay) you will need a screen in its place to keep from sucking bugs or larger objects up your inlet tube (that sounded gay)

Actually, by removing the gay plastic piece, your intake will suck more hot air from the engine compartment. The gay piece is there to direct cold air to the air filter from the outside of your homo truck!

I don't think he's talking about removing the air inlet tube in the engine compartment. I think he's talking about the plastic block off behind the grill were the inlet tube connects to the radiator support.

Never mind. My truck is an '88. And I don't know what the hell he's talking about. My inlet tube runs into the radiator support with a plastic blockoff behind the grill to keep the bugs out. Re-read his message and he is talking about removing the tube. I think! This gives me a headache! Maybe I'll just shut the f##k up!

Yes, you should use some screen for sure next to the radiator. I find bugs caught on mine all the time.

i put 2 layers of aluminum screen in mine, and periodically i still pull tiny rocks from the intake plenum, but your right the little plastic piece is queer as a tennis helmet

yeah, its not the piece inside the engine compartment, im not that stupid. its the piece that only allows air to go into the intake from the top, by the headlight.

You may not be that stupid, but you deffinetly have some homosexual tendencies. If you would have said you had a gay 88, I would have not posted. I have a 2001 r/t, and the way you described the "gay plastic piece", sounds like the piece that I described. No one said your stupid. Gay maybe, but not stupid.

honestly I took mine off in all I've had was overheating
problems. Because when you're on the freeway that peice
restricts the amount of air flow that enters your engine,
therefore if you take it off it creates a much more oxygen rich
environment for the fuel which creates super hot combustion
and causes your motor to overheat. I've replaced hundreds of
dollars worth of parts because of that stupid little piece of
plastic. Parts that were still good as well to alleviate any
possible causes
