Subject: yet another fan question IP: Logged
Message: Howdy!
I have an 02 R/T, and since I'm getting ready to install my U/D pulley, I thought I'd go ahead and get rid of the clutch fan while I'm in there. Since the fan shroud holds the washer fluid and coolant overflow, I kind of have to keep it, and was wondering what fan you guys were using. I know there are several of you who just took out the clutch fan and left it at that, but I'd like to play it safe, I guess.
Any suggestions would be great and thanks in advance.

Does the R/T have an electric fan in addition to the clutch fan? If so you should be all set with jsut the one, if not then you definitely need an electric fan.... I would say measure the amount of room you have and take it from there...

Message: Hey Chris,
Yes, it does have an electric fan also, but it seems kind of dainty. It would probably would handle the cooling (a lot of people on this board has no problems). But, I'd really like to cover my ass, just in case. The electric fan is mounted directly on the radiator, so I'm wondering if I can mount another in the shroud opening without a major hassle.

Message: I always felt the same way about that electric fan but it seems to do the jobn. Took off my mechanicall on my old truck at the end of summer last year and on the few 90+ days we had it worked fine even with the A/C on...

Message: SU55 SU55,
Thanks for the tip, but my fan shroud holds the washer fluid and coolant overflow, so I kind of have to keep it.
Anyhoo, I'll give it a shot and see what happens!
