Another R/T in the 12's! WOO HOO!!!

A little background info:

2002 R/T clubcab 4300lbs on the scale at HRP Wed 4-30-03

Mods:
Mopar headers 3" singel exhaust
Mopar 2bbl M1 intake
F&B 52mm TB
K&N FIPK
1.7 RR's
MSD Digital 6 and Blaster SS Coil
NX kit with GenX2 upgrade

Stock:
longblock, heads, cam, tranny, rearend, suspension, and worst of all - Stock PCM - which means I have to set the MSD rev limiter to 5100rpm to keep from bumping the stock rev limiter which cuts the fuel - bad bad bad - on nitrous. Also no timing added, shift points suck, and so on...... And on the gas I have to let it shift into overdrive at about the 1000' mark or it bangs the rev limiter in the top of third going thru the traps. Arrgghhhhh!!! I need a PCM bad, but my only option right now is a $600+ custom flash.

Anyway, now the story:
Went to pick up my bottle Wed on the way to the track. The shop ran out of nitrous as they were filling my bottle. Only managed to get about 7lbs in a 10lb bottle. Got to the track and borrowed a buddy's MT ET Streets and put the 150 shot jets in. The weather was warm and humid - about 80*+ Not the best weather by any means.

First pass - 12.74 @ 107.29mph
Second pass - 12.77 @ 106.57mph

Then I had to give my buddy his slicks back, but I had accomplished my goal for the day. I should have my own set next week.

Hopefully I'll have some PCM options soon. I think with a good PCM program, higher rev limit, better shift points, etc etc..... I can hit a mid/low 12 as it sits. Then maybe add a stall, exhaust cutout, and a short belt, should net some low 12's consistantly.

Oh BTW, there was a red Gen2 Lightning out there I saw run a 13.0 and a 13.1 - I guess the weather was hurting him too.

What do you run without the nitrous? I have almost the same mods in my 02 cc R/T and was just curious because I haven't been to the track yet.

My best ET on motor so far is a 14.3 @ 95mph. And I felt like the truck was running really crappy that day. I believe it got a better "motor" time in it, like a 14.0, just haven't got it yet.

My mods don't seem to be working together real well right now. I need a PCM upgrade to really wake things up. Then a stall will get me into the powerband faster.

They are the Harland Sharp non adjustables. Good price, and very easy to install. Just pull the stockers, and tighten down the rr's.

Only drawback is if I ever go with a large cam, I may have to go to an adjustable rr.

kenne-bell only charges 350.00 for a pcm program and on the work sheet it has spots to fill in roller rockes exhaust and what now so they program to it. just a suggestion as it's not that expensive.

Good Job, musta been the slicks, huh ;)

You got a bottle warmer on that thing?

I wonder if I could get my 'lil truck into the 12.3s with a bottle warmer.

I am planning to be at HRP in October once again, this time with my truck.

Sam

12.56 @ 110 mph on 150 shot.
12.65 @ 108 mph on 100 shot, no purge, no warmer, nada.

YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW THIS BUT IF YOU HAVE A 10 LB BOTTLE UP GRADE TO A 15LB IT WILL IMPROVE YOUR E.T. AND YOUR MPH

Great job, I also have a 2002 cc RT. your package is great I have not modded my truck yet. But you have inspired me. My truck ran mid 15s with terrible 60 ft. I also am wondering when you hit the nos and what your 60 ft times were with the MTs. thanks Joe

conig - I don't think KenneBell is doing 2002 trucks yet. I e-mailed them about it yesterday. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Sam- Yes, the slicks hooked awesome!!! And yes, I run the Nitrous Express GenX-2 kit that has the bottle warmer and purge setup. Hope to see you in October, maybe it'll be kinda cool weather by then.

big_torque - I hit it right out of the hole. I have a WOT switch on my TB, so as soon as I floor it, it engages.

BLAH - Yeah, I've heard that. I guess the pressure stays more stable so the shot last longer and is more consistant.

Joe - 6 months ago I was running consistant 15.4's all day everyday. The listed bolt-ons helped a bunch, but I'm still not getting everything they have to offer cuz of the stock PCM.

Here are the full specs from each run:

Run 1:
60' - 1.86
1/8mi. - 8.18 @ 85.59
1/4mi. - 12.74 @ 107.29

Run 2:
60' - 1.85
1/8mi. - 8.18 @ 85.32
1/4mi. - 12.77 @ 106.57
