Subject: Jet Chip or Hypertech? IP: Logged
Message: I believe Hypertech is releasing it's programmer for the Dakota. Which would be a better investment, the Jet Chip, or Hypertech? I have a 97 4x4 V6.

Message: Buy both and return the one that doesn't perform. That's the only way to find out for sure.

Message: Uh, why are we having this discussion again? Hey Buy the Jet Chip, you need it more than the Hypertech Powerprogrammer III. We don't need any more children driving around performance trucks, so by the Jet Chip.

Message: I would not buy either. They are both a waste of money and there are a lot better performance mods for the money

Message: Jet chip is junk. I would suggest either the Hypertech Programmer or the Mopar Performance PCM. Nice thing about the programmer is the ability to adjust your speedo for different tire sizes and switch easily between stock programming, or 87 and 92 octane programming. A little quicker than changin out the PCM, although the MP PCM might give you a little more power. Anyone have numbers?

Message: Mike, if I got this right you have a '97 V6? I think your only option is the Jet Chip (or maybe ASE). Hypertech does, as far as I know, not make something for the '97 V6 nor does Mopar make a performance PCM. What's the Jet worth? I haven't tried it, but it seems that there are as many opinions as users...

Message: ive spoken with 2 differant people that bought the jet chip they told me it did nothing, no noticable gains, they were very disappointed. i bought hypertechs programmer III a couple of weeks ago its ok, what i should have done was have dave kasper or a performance shop reburn my pcm. but if you dont have the $530.00 to have it done you should stick with hypertech. its only 350.00 and it simple to operate. 530.00 is a lotta kaa-ching!
