I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on how to make my own intake for my 93 5.2? I only want to buy the drop in type K&N from the parts store and the rest from a hardware store. Last night I took off the plastic plate that is bolted on the side of the radiator and in front of the intake tube. While I was under there, I realized that I could turn the air filter housing so that instead of having the tube come in and make a right angle turn, I could just point the opening of the housing towards the grill and use a shorter piece of pipe or tube to run to the back of the grill. Also, what kind of pipe or tube should I use and how should I attach it to the stock air box?

Take a look at the Air Filter Mod post, and check out Kirks address. Trust me build this set-up! I have tried what your talking about and it doesn't work as well. I also removed the plate and put some 3" ducting pipe inside the black hose with a 90 degree ducting elbow. Had to cut open the tube to get it in. Kirks set-up will cost more but will be well worth it (K&N Gen II kits for the new daks cost $240, this will total to be about $115).

Good idea, Kris...

The K&N won't be able to bolt up to the new TB that will be available soon, so I'm gonna need an alternative.
