Message:
for those of you who had made mil eliminators :
what wires did you hook resister and cap to ,I don't want colors they are not the same on after-market O2 sensors. I need plug #'s

plug#1= B+(from ASD relay) power for heater
plug#2= heater ground
plug#3= sensor ground(I checkedand its grounded to frame so this is not ref wire)
plug#4=sensor signal(sends mv reading back to PCM)

The plug #'s are on the plug and wiring schematic so now tell me what wires you used for referance wire- the ground ? why?

someone must have really done this or maybe no-one has.

why would you want to eliminate your malfunction indicator light?

I don't want to eliminate it completely ,just the part that tells me my converter is below required efficiency. I would like the PCM to think that it is just fine.

and yes I do understand the emmision standards and why my converter should be at required efficiency but until Dodge understands that they can't replace one junk part with another junk part I'll just have to run my hollow converter.

I won't run to the dealer every month to replace cats.

whats a DRBIII ,a scan tool?

the reference wire you are referring to is the signal wire to the PCM. that is the on you need. a DRBIII is DC's scan tool. Diagnostic Readout Box, 3rd Edition. thats how i erase my DTC's.

.o.k. the Dakota has 4 wires a heater pos,heater ground,sensor signal,and a sensor ground.

the sensor ground is grounded to frame, not directly but eventually it goes to ground,I've ohmed it and there is continuity to the frame.

the sensor signal wire sends the mv reading back to PCM telling it the A/F ratio,I've ckecked the mv reading on this-when idling from cold start I get fluctuations from 250mv(lean)to 1.1v(rich) so I know this is info from O2 sensor to PCM.

To make a mil eliminator according to posts and zx2racing web site, the resister goes inline of the sensor signal wire, and the capacitor comes off the sensor signal wire and goes to the referance signal wire.

So the problem is what is the referance wire.
It seems that Dodge does not use a signal referance wire, only a sensor signal wire that sends mv reading back to PCM.

What does the capacitor connect to, it has no ref. wire to connect to because there isnt one.
The manual and www.zx2racing.com/mods/mods_mil.htm
confirm this.

So I guess no one has really made one of these that worked. If you have, prove me wrong--please!
Keep in mind we have sensor signal, sensor ground, and two heater wires not blue, grey, black, and white there different colors on non-oem sensors.

I'll have to buy a catbox for $90 and take it apart to see what makes it tick.
Then if pos. I'll post and let you know.

sorry for the late reply I don't venture the performance boards to often anymore as my truck is lifted and full of subs and amps now lol.

anyway on my ot sensor the blue wire was the signal and the white was to "reference" I say reference because my understanding was the 02 grounded on the exhaust pipe.

when I was initially doing the r&d on the mil eliminator It was very hard to get info on the o2 sensor and a couple people told me it wouldn't work( mainly from speed tweaks who insidently was trying to develope one to sell for like $40) go figure. weither or not it's reference or ground doesn't really matter the main concern is that the heater wires will be two of the same color, one is signal and for lack of better explaination one is the "mystery wire" the cap goes between the mystery and signal wire.

I wish I could provide better explaination but you just introduced a set of variables I was unaware of but regardless I have been running a homemade mil eliminator that was very cost effective for atleast a year and a half now if not 2 years.

honestly based on the cost what do you have to loose? if not satisfied then buy a prefab one but based on my experience I don't think you will have to or want too.
later
