I have a lot of trouble spinning tires, I get beat off the line by these old people in their buicks until I can finally hook up and then I wax em, but I just hate that...
I have the 4.7 5spd 01 Dak sport with the 3:55 rear end...... Who makes a posi trac unit that is affordable for this truck.......???????

I have no complaints with my Auburn. I paid around $600 for the unit and installation. Auburn states to use only 80W-90 conventional lube and GM or Ford additive.

How does that posi trac work for you as far as spinning is concerned?

Go to www.4wheelparts.com and look under drive train. They have our differentials for like $150 shipped. Smoke'n price.....

mjhipp: If you don't have a long commute to work why not upgrade to 4.10's with a posi? Your city mileage won't change much (your highway mileage will go fdown a little). You'll be happier with the results from that combo. I'm running 3.92's LSD and its awesome. My tires are crappy too. 235/70-15's.

Only a dumbass rags people like that when he doesnt know his facts...
That kind of s**t right there is what takes up about half the bandwidth on the DodgeDakotas.com server and disk storage too. Save some room for intelligent Q & A kay bud?
As far as the 4.10's , I only get about 18 mpg hwy and I do run 255 50's , so that has changed my gears considerably, the tire is about 5 inches shorter and gets tq to the qround much quicker, and I would like to build the truck so stout that the 3:55 with small tires is the right gearing for all around use for MPG. My commute is about 15 min... and will one day possibly be twice that...
I just bought a whole new rearend assembly , gearcase and all , everything b/t the wheels and the U joint , and wanted to keep it stock, but now I know I could have got the 3.92's LSD ..
BTW, what truck does that 3.92 LSD come stock with. Not mine I know, It's a free turning Diff and it'll roast em for a full city block in 2nd.. or should I say roast "it"

My '00 4.7L CC 2wd 5spd has 3.92's LSD with 9.25 rear. I ordered it that way. I didn't want 4wd and I wanted to still be able to tow mostly whatever I wanted to with relative ease so I got the toughest setup possible. Now I find that I do haul quite a bit in the bed but pretty much don't tow anything. Maybe in the future though.

Mine is a 9.25" Hex cover from the factory and the guy at the salvage yard that ordered it ( with 30 k miles ) said he thought it was the wrong one, and maybe it was for a 3/4 ton or something cuz they're freakin HUGE gearcases, and the U bolts that come with a belltech 2" block kit have to be bent out and then rewrapped around the shaft in order to fit. STOUT

I just read in my favorite ricer magazine called Sport Compact Car, that MSD has a new Programable Launch Rev Limiter that turns of after you pick up speed.. You might want to try that..
