 Subject: 360 engine codes

i just recently purchased an old 360 that has not been ran in 1 year it obviously needs to be torn down and clean and so on. i was looking on the block and there was the code40006830.360 can anyone tell me what that means im going to put it in the 2nd gen i have. any help would be greatly appreciated.

the numbers you have on the left bank of the block below the deck surface is the casting numbers and the last 3 digits are the cubic inches, as yours says 360. if you look on the right bank of the block the numbers below the deck are the build date.

thanx i appreciate that. i took the motor apart today and it had gold rocker arms with red vlave springs that said crane on them and the numbers were 69-1.50-1. and the cam was purple. and the pistons had two half cirlce indentions on one side. can you tell me what this means too.

the rockers that you have are more than likely a set of Crane Gold Race Rockers that you can find in the Crane catalog and in Jegs and Summit also. the springs i dont know about being red and all. and the cam, if the shaft itself is actually purple in color, not the lobes, but the shaft, then its gonna be a Mopar Performance Purple Shaft Cam. Now, with the pistons, the indentions are valve reliefs for clearance when the cams total lift gets pretty high. anything else you need email me at upshizblood@hotmail.com or just reply to this post again.
