Right now i'm running 235/70-15 Goodyears on 15x7 rims. On the street they actually hook up pretty well. As soon as it rains though i'm all over the place. I hope to have a set of 17x9 r/t rims here soon and want to put some Kumho 255/55-17's on them. Almost the exact diameter as my current tire so my speedo won't be off hardly at all. The Kumho's, Nitto's, and Pirelli's are supposed to be really good for street traction but not to great for snow.

255/65R16 Goodyear Eagle LS on the front (original tires), 285/60R16 Goodyear Eagle GTII on the back.

Next time around I'll be putting 285/60 on the front, and 295/65 on the rear. That way it'll put a larger footprint, and fill the wheel well a bit more. Not to mention give it a slight rake. (+5% diameter)

I run BFG TA radials because they are decen and they are cheap, very important when you have a way of making tires wear rather fast....

Lets see at 85k miles I have put a total of: 10 tires on it since I bought it, and i drive mostly highway...

8k, 2 tires in rear, 275/60/15 pirelli's
25k 2 tires in front, fronts moved to rear
50k 2 rear, 275/60 15 BFG TA
65k 2 Front, 255/60/15 BFG TA
80k 2 Front, 255/60/15 BFG TA

I think that is about it...

Chris

I run the Kumho 255/55R17 on my R/T rims. They are great tires in my opinion. They are not too soft but not to hard. I noticed a huge differerance over my previous tires (pep boys brand). They work very well on dry and wet pavement.

Buzz --

How far out do the 275's stick out from the rim. I want to go up to 275's in the back but i don't want to get that bulge type of look.

Thanks,
Alex

Street racing huh. I guess your not looking for long life tires. Well for best traction you might want to look into BFG Drag Radials for the rear. The drag radials look like street tires and are made with the same compoud as ET Streets (soft) and have a reduced tread depth but are supposedly able to last for 15,000 mi, assuming you don't constantly abuse them. I have 315/35/17s on my R/T (don't by these they are only 26in tall your stock tire is a little over 28in) they hook extremely well. If you don't like the BFG's then take a look at Nitto Street Extreme 555r. They also make a drag radial.

Ive got the geolander at's on my truck... they ride a little hard on the highway, but are great otherwise, and the BEST in the snow, puts the pirellis to shame... excellent braking too.
