Subject: homemade air intake IP: Logged
Message: I'm going to be making my own intake soon and I researched as much as possible. One thing that I haven't found anyone talk about is that little black hose that is plugged into the air box. Nobody says what to do with it since I'm planning on hooking directly onto the throttle body. I remember reading some where that it needs a "breather filter." So does any one have a detailed description of that part of the project? Pictures would be excellent because I'm still learning.
Thanks for all info
Jason

Message: ok, but where would that be? i'm getting rid of everything after the throttle body (air hat, tubes, filter box which is where the black tube is plugged into now) as far as i know, i'm not going to have and intake inlet unless i make one in the pvc. if i have to do that, can someone tell me how?

Message: I just put a breather filter on mine. You can get these at any parts store for less than $4. I paid $2.50 for mine at Autozone. It is just a black plastic, retangular shaped piece with filter material in it. Measure your hose inlet and buy a filter with the same size nipple and it will work fine.

Message: Hey Jason,
I believe that this is what you are looking for. It's only 6.99. Get the one without the nipple. Here's a pic of what it looks like. If this is all you need to buy, I would suggest to go to your local parts store instead to avoid the $8 handling fee from Jegs. Hope this helps.

Message: I have the tubing for a "homemade" air intake already available. It comes with black rubber fittings, clamps, air filter, chrome 3" tubing, and breather tube. (it already has the .5" diameter hole for the tube to connect to) and is ready to put on. (Would take approx. 10 minutes to complete.) I will sell everything for $85.00 including shipping. For more information and pictures - it would be the same kit shown on my truck:
