Subject: Odd smell IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys. Lately, when I get on the gas and it shifts past 4 grand I get a burning smell and I don't know what to do about it. It smells like the clutch burning out in a manual trans, but I have an auto.
I've got a 95 dak now with a mild 318 build, and a a-518 trans. The trans was built up by a professional shop with heavier bands and clutches.
Do you have any clue what might be causing this smell? I have a few years of tech school in but never did any trans work before. How hard is it to check/replace the bands myself?
Thanks in advance
Geoff

Message: I have the same problem in my R/T. Im pretty sure its just my brakes but hell i dunno much bout transmission so its probably that. I had to take my truck in when i broke the bands in my tranny the 1st time but i never had a smell like this so i dunno. it took them a long time to fix it, bout a week but they were busy and of course they probably took their merry time in fixing it. if you find out what exactly this smell is let me know. thanks.
