Subject: Mopar PCM IP: Logged
Message: I just installed my Mopar PCM on my 99 R/T and expected to get a check engine light to come on because it has to be programmed with VIN & mileage. To my surprise the ABS & Brake lights came on instead. They only come on after I have driven it a while. No check engine light at all. Has anybody else seen this before. I will go to the Dodge dealer here soon so it doesn't matter, but I was just wondering if anybody else has seen this before.

Message: I have seen that before. It should go away after you get the VIN programmed in.

Message: Yeah - thats normal - my '99 318 did the same thing.
98Durango5.9 - find another dealer and don't worry about them reflashing the computer - none of the updates in the DRB will work on the MP PCM.
I had one of my friends program the VIN in mine and it only took about 10 minutes - ended up having to program it twice because it didn't accept the VIN the first time.

Message: The dealer can't flash the MP PCM. Mine also had the brake lights only come on. My dealer flashed mine for free, when I had it in for some warranty work. It only took them about 5-10 minutes.

Message: My ABS and Brake Light went on because of a bad rear
wheel speed sensor. it was 35 bucks and I put it on
myself. That could be the problem, I hope this helps

Message: There is not problem.
I also installed the PCM on my 99 R/T and the ABS & Brake lights came on. That's what always happens.
After a Chrysler dealer programmed my VIN to the new PCM everything was o.k.
