Message: I would not take out the middle spring. Your blocks are a better way to go. If ya pick up a Trukin mag pretty much every issue has instructions on lowering it..... very simple to do.

Message: Cheapest way is to use blocks, on Dak 2wd the springs are under the rear axle. Remove U bolts insert spacer between spring and mounting pad, install new U bolts torque to spec done.
Best way is find a reputable spring shop and have your spring packs de-arched. I have seen lowering blocks that have cracked.

Message: the hard part is finding u-bolts to fit the axle. I had to go to a local 4x4 shop to get some as pepboys doesn't carry them. now since my trucks been lifted I didn't need them anyway.

Message: get some 1" aluminum plate and cut your own, this
won't break, NAPA has a big assortment of u bolts
I went slightly lager diameter and drilled out the holes in the clamp plate a little. Drill a
hole in the aluminum for the locator stud to
engage into. Figure about 4 hours.

Message: texastodd-i concur, but i can see his point of view also LOL...he wants his lowering kit to 'perform' does he not?
i dont recommend de-arching the springs. just use blocks...dont get the cheapo pep boys ones, i used those to lift my jeep they corrode like a mofo, and crack if you run your truck hard/overtorque the spring bolts. summit sells tapered blocks so whatnot, theyre like 25 bucks. you can go to any suspension shop and have them make you u-bolts, if for some reason they dont have any already there. they should...good luck!

Message: Also, DJM sells block kits with the correct axle size U bolts. Dakotas and Durangos have 3" and 3 1/2" axle sizes. I got the 1" steel block kit.
