I am going with the procharger on my 5.2 4x4. Just a couple inquiries before finalizing the buy. Obviously, i am going to take my jet chip out, but besides that, what needs to be done for added parts and/or accessories? MSD?? I have 85,000 on the old girl, so is that a factor. the only other mods are exhaust, knn intake, 160 thermo, transgo shift kit. I am really just concerned with my timing and with my luck it seems like nothing goes right the first time..

The 85,000 could be a factor. It might be a good idea to do a compression check before getting the s/c put on.

If i don't use my stock head gaskets, which seems to be the overwhelming verdict, what should i use?? Do i need to upgrade my injectors???

If you're going to change head gaskets, go with Felpro. Wouldn't hurt to put in some heavy duty head studs while you have the heads off. Most s/c kits come with auxillary injectors.

With that many miles on the engine you should just buy a whole new, more powerful, bottom end, have your heads ported and polished and get an m1 intake. Basically build your engine up and that 4k will make more power on just the engine alone than it would right now with the blower!

just do a compression check, and if all is well, supercharge it! i had 85k on mine when i put the powerdyne on, and its holding up great!!

i just figured it like this... i got a bitchen deal on my SC, and if i blow the engine, i would be forced to build a new one.

Well dont go with msd if you want new ignition, find something with detonation retard, I dont know about prochargers (cause they .....) but most SC's come with a computer of one sort or another and that will change your ignition and fuel map, you should just throw it on and then see what it needs, as for head gaskets they make some with metal rings and they work like a small spacer that will lower your compression a wee bit and would probly be more gentle on that aged motor of yours.

I agree that a compression check is in order before SC'ing an engine with 85,000 miles. I think I would at least put new std. rings and bearing in!! If you are staying below 10-14psi you should be fine if you use a solid copper head gasket!!! You will definately want to use a good fuel controller and a bost operated retard controler. Injectors I like lucas and RCI disc style injectors you can get them in any flow rate you need. I know that a really hot viper tuner uses GM 3.8 V6SC injectors on his supercharged vipers.

i would NOT use copper gaskets. with that kind of miledge, im sure the rings are not as good as they once were, and i would want my weakest link to be the head gasket, and not the rings. IMO

BTW, i heard the copper gaskets have had problems on the magnum engine's

Thanks for all the responses. Will my stock fuel pump be sufficient for the procharger??

No , One of the main items in supercharging is getting enough fuel to the engine , You must put a Auxilary pump in .
