hey i just wanted to know if the check engine light goes on if the o2 sensor is out. I had to replace my cat a week ago and they the muffler guy said that the car might be running to rich. can any one help me with the problem. might check engine light is off so i have no idea if the sensor is bad.

They are fairly cheap to replace if your doubting its reliabilty might as well replace it.

tells you how to check your own codes, if your check engine light is on, but if it isnt then theres probably nothing wrong, i dont know what year you have, but if you have 97 and up then when it says to turn the key quickly between codes, it means quick, but make sure you go fully to the off position, hope it goes alright
