I was at a part store today and out of curiosity asked how much difference he thought a K&N drop in air filter would make as far as power was concerned. I was told 10hp! Is that close to being accurate in a 5.9 QC 2wd? I thought he was stretching it a bit. Also, how about mpg? Much difference with normal driving?

I noticed NO difference between it and the paper filter. Mabey a little more noise from the intake. I got it for the reuseability and recleaning features.

Not that big a difference, but breathes a little better and you'll never have to buy another air filter again. Small gain that will pay for itself.

This was the first thing I did after I got my Truck. Its 01 4.7. Did not really notice any difference for the most part. The big advantage is in the fact that its re-usable. Its easy to maintain, and hey, maybe it does improve the reponse a a bit.

the first thing i did to my 4.7 02 quad was get a K&N i noticed the difference in off the line starts. not too much but it only costs $35 so i didn't expect much. i like the never having to get another filter thing too. maybe 0.7 mgp better +/- maybe just me wanting the truck to be faster.
